Message from the President

Welcome and thank you for visiting the website of Tau Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

As Alpha Kappa Alpha celebrates 104 years of “Service to All Mankind”, the Ladies of Tau Tau Omega have, over the last 19 years, remained a force in the Santa Monica community and surrounding areas. Members have participated in annual service projects at the L.A. Mission, the Downtown Women’s Shelter, with the Dream Center on Skid Row for the National Family Volunteer Day of Service, Christmas Toy Drives, and the Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Day of Service.

Tau Tau Omega members have also participated in the Habitat for Humanity Program in Watts and a Rites of Passage Program at Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Additionally clothing, shoes, bedding, toiletry items, school supplies and monetary donations have been given to women’s shelters and various charities.

In January 2011, Alpha Kappa Alpha challenged her members to exemplify Global Leadership Through Timeless Service by implementing initiatives addressing Health, Global Poverty, Economic Security, Social Justice and Human Rights and Internal Leadership Training for External Service. Tau Tau Omega members eagerly answered this call to action by hosting a canned food drive for Global Poverty; raising awareness of Kidney Disease and conducting blood pressure screenings for Health; leading workshops at the Delilu Home and the Jenesse Center for Social Justice and Human Rights; and, launched its signature program, Emerging Young Leaders (EYL) at Frederick Douglass Middle School. We’re off to an exciting start and we hope you will visit our site often to see what we’re up to next!

Yours in service,

Rasheeda Garner, President
